About Dr. John West, LPC, NCC

Dr. John West has been a professional counselor since 2003 and has worked as an individual and family therapist, university dean, teacher, Christian school principal, and pastor.  John utilizes an eclectic and integrative counseling approach that he tailors for each client, using techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, biblical counseling, and family systems.  John has helped many men, women, families, and soldiers to heal and grow from grief, trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, parenting challenges, divorce recovery, and spousal abuse.  He specializes in working with adolescents and older children.

John’s previous experience and passion with ministry, counseling, and education have shaped his research, writing, and consulting interests.  He is the lead author of Emotional Intelligence for Religious Leaders, released in August 2018 through Rowman and Littlefield Publishing and available online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target. John is blissfully married to his wife and travel partner, Renee.  They have four children between them, two of which are in college.  John enjoys playing volleyball, racquetball, disc golf, billiards, hiking, traditional archery, and traveling.  He is also a Colorado native raised in Lakewood, and a diehard Broncos and Buffs fan.
